Seeking a Serpent

Wanting to take advantage of the dry and sunny weather we decided to head down to the Helford River and have lunch in the Trebah restaurant before going for a walk at Glendurgan Gardens next door. These subtropical gardens sweep down through three valleys to a sheltered beach which means a fair number of ups and owns, mostly on decent pathways, unless you venture up to the highest point to see the serpent in all its glory.

It’s Cornwall. It’s spring and the gardens are full of Rhododendrons and Azaleas and this wonderful purple heather.
The views from the top look over the meadow where bluebells grow beneath the cherry blossom.
An upturned boat makes for an interesting seat.
The Serpent-like maze was created by the Fox family from Cherry Laurel back in the 19th century and still enjoyed by families today.
We made our way down to the beach – though the tide was high. A wonderful spot for skimming stones, or as we did, sit and eat Roskilly’s ice-creams.
On the way back to the exit we paused to admire the blue haze of the bluebells.
And the meadow paths.
Finally reaching the exit. Another fine day out.
