Moving Forward: Day 30

Becky’s Squares photo challenge has returned.

This month’s theme is Renew. Or Burgeoning. Or Moving Forward. Or Reconstructing.

You get the idea.

Seeing the garden awaken after months of deluge made me think that maybe seeing how nature renews itself might be my theme. My garden is my happy place and it will, I’m sure, help me to move forward.

A constant visitor to the garden. You may have difficulty seeing this one as he was hiding under a climber waiting to visit the bird feeder.

‘Robins appear when loved ones are near’.

These cheery creatures are incredibly common, and they can symbolize a lot of different things, but the main things they represent are happiness, good luck, and rebirth.

there is something so special about robins, and this one is so fortunate in having you look after his/her garden!

They have the sweetest song too.

      1. BeckyB says:

they really do – just come back from a birdsong walk and we were treated to a robin’s song

That’s nice. Blackbirds are wonderful too, so melodic, and we have lots of tiny wrens that have such a loud voice for a small bird. Have you heard of an app, Merlin, I think. You can use it to identify birdsong as you walk.

Yup heard both of those this morning 🙂 and yes I have . This group though is all about teaching us to recognise them ourselves. An hourly walk, once or twice a month, following by a coffee and chat afterwards. Really lovely group.

That sounds good. You seem to be settling in nicely.

Part of the reason for living here before I actually moved was I knew I’d have the time to start doing all these things before I am overly focused on my new home. And Bradford has such a welcoming community – small enough to care, but not too small that there is nothing going on or that it is the same people. Hopefully by Christmas one or two of them will have become proper friends.

Robins appear when loved ones are near. I like that. He’s always with you in your garden, isn’t he- your son? Hugs, Jude!

    1. Heyjude says:

He spent a lot of time sitting in the garden when he was recovering from the first operation. So many memories Jo.

      1. restlessjo says:

Yes, that’s what I was thinking. It will make it hard for you to move but you will need to. Having a lovely time? 🤗🩷

        1. Heyjude says:

We don’t go away until Monday 😊

        2. restlessjo says:

Sorry! I’ve so lost track. It’s his birthday this week though? 🤔🩵

        3. Heyjude says:

          Yes. Tomorrow. 💛

  4. Dear little bird. We are yet to spot one.

    1. Heyjude says:

You may hear one before you see one.

    A lovely garden visitor

    1. Heyjude says:

Indeed. I love my little garden visitors. The rooks not so much.

  6. Nice capture of the little robin. They appear when loved ones are near – lovely.

I walk through New York’s Central Park, and there are so many birds everywhere you look, along with Squirrels, Turtles, Ducks and more…to see how they all fit in perfectly with nature…thanks for sharing this!

    1. Heyjude says:

We’d certainly be worse off without nature in our cities.

  8. We always saw lots of robins in the Midwest, but not here in our part of Arizona. I miss them. They’re so cheerful and harbingers of spring. This one must certainly enjoy your beautiful garden.

  9. beetleypete says:

Julie is obsessed with the Robins in our garden, and she is convinced that they are the spirits of departed loved ones. To make her happy I put dishes of dried mealworms out for them, even though I think they are just pretty birds that are not very scared of people.

    Best wishes, Pete. x

    1. Heyjude says:

They are definitely the gardener’s friend. They cleverly follow you around waiting for you to dig up some tasty worms!

  10. So cute, and posing beautifully.
