1st March is not only St David’s Day – the patron saint of Wales – but also the first day of spring according to the meteorological calendar in the northern hemisphere. To celebrate both here are some of the earliest daffodils from my garden. (The daffodil is the national flower of Wales).

The daffodil symbolises rebirth and new beginnings. It’s one of the first flowers to bloom at the end of winter, announcing the beginning of spring and signifying the end of the cold, dark days.
Spring seems to have arrived with forecasts of ice and snow here! Just what I don’t want to hear about.
Yes, it’s chilly here too and set to get wintry next week ❄️
🥶
Brightens my day! Thank you! Here it is cold but sunny. No daffodils yet.
Cold here today too!
It’s a couple of days late now but… Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant! I do love seeing daffodils.
Love your header image Jude – glorious!
I love to see the daffodils arrive – still waiting for spring though!
Officially spring … and what a beautiful flower to herald it!
You wouldn’t think so today, it’s bitter out there.
Did not know they were the national flower of Wales. Thanks for that. They always signal spring to me as well.
