We all love to see trees in the environment. They are our life preservers. Our climate change warriors. Big, small, urban, rural: woodlands are an oasis, a sanctuary, an escape from city life. But how many of us simply admire them from afar without really examining them close up? Studying the different colours, the texture of the bark, the life within.
Over the past month or so I have been closely examining trees around me. Here are some of the results from December 2022.
Great gallery! One of these days I’m going to collect all my bark photos together.
Thanks Denzil. A project I decided on for this winter. Trees are so interesting.
This is a lovely collection of tree details. There’s always something to see up close.
Quite. Plenty of lichens and moss as well as the textures and colours of the bark.
If you go down to the woods today…..
you’ll not see a thing on account of the fog… 😅
Caramba! Children’s Carnavale parade here this morning. Bike race this afternoon. No, I wasn’t taking part 🤣💕
Wow, you show so much detail here on the trees … it’s amazing to see all the textures up close.
My winter project this year 😁
Lovely gallery Jude. I love to see the tree peoples faces. When are you doing your tree identification course?
I could do with one. I’m pretty hopeless with tree ID.
Since moving to Norfolk, I have become a regular ‘watcher of trees’. I walk past the same ones every day with Ollie, and always notice the changes.
Best wishes, Pete. x
A watcher of trees. I like that.
So you’re going to make a regular things of this? Great! Keep ’em coming …
Well, at least another one.
Great gallery. I love the ones with lichens. I have been thinking how children ought not to be able to leave school without being able to recognise 10 or 15 local trees, in and out of season. I do pay attention but I’m not sure I’d pass the test.
A great idea. Wildflowers too. I can recognise a few, but there are several with very similar leaves so I get confused.
And birds. It sounds like a lot but it really isn’t.
Love this, Jude. My husband always wanted to have a piece of land where he would plant hardwood tree that would eventually be for our daughters and grandchildren and beyond. I don’t think it’s going to happen but it was a lovely dream.
Love the variety
