late afternoon shadows

Becky (the Queen of Squares) is dipping her toes back into blogging this month and encouraging us to get outside and take a few steps each day during November to help survive those endless grey days. And to share a photo or two while we are at it. Square of course.

This week I am looking at things closer to home. Living as I do in the countryside I only have to walk out of my front door to be surrounded by fields and views of the hills and a glimpse of the sea. I know I am very lucky to have all this space and beauty.

My favourite view from my walk along the lanes is this one across the fields towards Godrevy lighthouse and the beaches of Hayle, Mexico Towans and Gwithian. I have used a texturised effect on this to give it a painterly feel. The sun came out on this day just in time to create those long shadows in the late afternoon. Please click on image to enlarge and zoom in to see the effect.

Walking Squares

  1. You certainly are blessed, Jude. Your choice of edit really makes it look like a painting.

Thanks Janet, I just played about with a few effects and ended up with this one. It does look like a painting.

  2. Very clever! It really does look like a painting. How do you do that? Mel

    1. Heyjude says:

It’s just a texturiser effect on sandstone in Photoshop Elements. A bit of tweaking. 😁

  3. Joyce says:

You have the most beautiful views on your walks–I love this!

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Joyce. Yes there are some great views around here.

  4. Graham says:

That’s a lovely view and such nice light. I can see why it’s a favorite.

The low autumn light can create great warmth to a photo. I was lucky that the sun appeared at that part of the walk.

  5. Extremely beautiful photo❣️❣️

  6. Simply stunning, Jude.

Thanks Carol. A view I have lots of photos of, but the light changes it all the time
