Celebrating Autumn #9

Time to join in once again with Dawn’s annual “Festival of Leaves” autumn challenge where  she invites us to share our photos of the autumn (fall) season.

South American tree known for its strongly scented bark. (Winter’s bark) Originally from Argentina and Chile, Drimys winteri is an evergreen shrub or small tree with large bright green, leathery leaves which are aromatic when crushed.

I’m not celebrating this Autumn. Two days of constant heavy rain, and still raining now. 😦
    Best wishes, Pete. x

Been wet here too, but with intermittent sunshine. Seems cold to me. I hate this time of year.

I have had the heating on this week, and the constant darkness makes it feel like winter has really arrived.

We turned the heating on last week, but had been using the wood burner in the evening for several days. The darkness is horrible, our house is quite dark anyway so lights are constantly on now.

It feels so much later than it really is when it gets dark so early. Grim! (But unfortunately it hasn’t helped me to get an early night yet!) I don’t like this time of year much…and a long wait for the first signs of spring.

I think autumn’s on its last gasp now, don’t you?

    1. Heyjude says:

It has certainly felt like it this week. Still, only 5 weeks to the shortest day and then we are on the up again, though it won’t feel like it for at least another month.

I know. the road down to the shortest day is long and hard, isn’t it?

I find this time of year hard, but have been trying to be more positive this year. It’s when the clocks go back that it hits me. Thank goodness Becky’s squares are helping me to keep looking for interesting things to photograph. I just wish it wasn’t so wet!

Very wet indeed! But we do need it.

  3. This is wonderful Jude and gives me ideas for winter photography. Thank you.

I am not familiar with that little tree. Looks lovely

    1. Heyjude says:

It was in one of the NT gardens.
