They are extraordinary things, aren’t they? I’m always amazed at the height they grow. Happy, sunny birthday, by the way!

These are smallish flowers on 6 ft stems! They’ve been whipped around in the wind this weekend so I’m surprised they haven’t snapped. About the only sunshine today I think, but dry so far.

Ah, lovely. Sunflowers are among those flowers that die graciously.

I’m hoping the birds will find them for the seeds. That would be nice!

There used to be a huge field of sunflowers near our house, across the main road on Mill Lane. I loved watching them turn to face the sun during the day.
Then they were dug up when the farmer changed the land use to pheasant-shooting. Sad.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

      Oh, that is sad 😔

Wonderful examination of a flowers life Jude 🙂

Thanks Brian, I thought these would never flower!

Sometimes the wait is worth it. I have a bush in bud and they are taking forever 🙂

Beautiful at every stage of life.

      They truly are.

A lovely set of photos Jude. Sunflowers know how to look beautiful at every stage of their lives – maybe we could learn something from them?

Lovely post, Jude. We leave the heads outside for the birds to enjoy as well. The lifecycle of the beautiful sunflower is comforting.

I hope the birds find these, they are quite small sunflowers and very tall!

    What a lovely sunflower portrait

I’m quite pleased with these. Grown from seed only five survived the S&S and although they grew and grew I wasn’t sure they would ever flower! And when they did along came the wind and rain 🌧️

  10. Lovely cycle. Such vibrant colours too. I always think of them as uniformly yellow.

There are so many different sunflowers including one called Teddy bear!
