Autumn Textures

An autumnal look at textures in Trengwainton Garden, Penzance.

ischyrolepis-subverticillata is a restio species native to South Africa. It is a tufted, reed-like perennial with erect to arching dark green, almost woody stems with whorls of thread-like green leaves or modified branches growing from each node, giving a fountain effect.

A bevy of beauty! Love the grasses.

    1. Heyjude says:

More grasses than I remember from previous visits. They do look good. Got a walk there for you tomorrow. šŸ’›

Oh, that’s nice! Thank you. How did Genna do? I haven’t been following šŸ¤—šŸ’—

        1. Heyjude says:

Time was 3:47 which is average for her age group (41 – 50) so she was very pleased. Not sure she’ll want to repeat the experience though. She loves running, but felt the pressure on this one. Raised over Ā£1000 for her charity which was her target.

That’s brilliant. My neighbour’s friend, who must be in the next age group, did it in 5. I would have to walk it.

        3. Heyjude says:

Age 51 – 60 is 4:12 – Genna’s running mate is in that category and she finished in 4:17 – I think anyone who finishes a marathon, no matter what the time, is amazing. Like you I could probably walk that distance but it would take me all day!

Nice images to enjoy on a sunny morning in Beetley, Jude.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

Rained here earlier, but it’s nice now. Busy tracking my daughter who is running the marathon.

Lots of lovely textures and touches of colour – autumn feels gentle after the fiery summer the UK has had!

    1. Heyjude says:

Yes, autumn has been okay so far, we have had rain and quite heavy at times but mainly during the night or early morning, looks like it’s going to be wilder this week though.

Lovely variety of plants, Jude. Happy Autumn!

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Jane, it has certainly arrived, today was glorious.

    Lovely autumnal images

Every season had merit. I just need to be more positive about winter.

      1. Murtagh's Meadow says:

I know the feeling. Winter is my least favourite season.

  6. some beautifully observed signs and hues of Autumn Jude – ischyrolepis-subverticillata is truly amazing, aside from its name

    1. Heyjude says:

I know! A brilliant name. Good job it was labelled.

  7. Hope your daughter did well. Grasses can be so attractive.

    1. Heyjude says:

She finished in just under 4 hours which is what she was aiming for – her age group is average time of 3:51 (ages 41 – 50)

      1. Good for her! Iā€™m a sprinter so a marathon sounds like torture. šŸ˜‰

        1. Heyjude says:

Any kind of running sounds like torture to me! I don’t mind a walk though šŸ˜Š

Iā€™m a walker in everyday life but I do walk rather fast when walking for exercise. šŸ˜

  8. I love how the nigella seed pods go all dry and crinkly. I let mine all go to seed and then shook them everywhere. This spring I have lots of new plants coming into flower.

    1. Heyjude says:

Yes, I have been doing some shaking!
