Common snout made me smile. Hoverflies are unvalued compared to honeybees, so it’s good to see you celebrate this one. I love your penstemon too. I have tried them as their shades are so beautiful, but they didn’t survive the winter.
Wonderful detail – so much more in your photograph than you would normally notice when you look at one. And the pink penstemon against the green gives it a lovely background.

Some penstemons are hardier than others. This one seems quite resilient, but I have lost others in the wet.

It’s not my favourite colour, but it is a hardy penstemon, much hardier than others I have grown.
