#World Photography Day

World Photography Day (19th August 2022) is an annual, worldwide celebration of the art, craft, science and history of photography. People can participate by adding their photos on Instagram. Since I do not have an Instagram account I am sharing my photo from today on my blog.

Where’s the Jam?

Bombus hortorum, the garden bumblebee or small garden bumblebee enjoying the clotted-cream Jasmine. It is distinguished from most other bumblebees by its long tongue used for feeding on pollen in deep-flowered plants.

“A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is, in a word, effective.”
― Irving Penn

That’s a lovely bee photo, Jude.

    Best wishes, Pete. x

I always thought it was only usable from a phone app, but having looked it up I see that you can actually upload photos from a computer. Can’t say that I am bothered about opening an account though.

Me neither. I can just about cope with blogging and Twitter. x

I don’t do Twitter either! Blogging, photography and the garden keep me busy enough.

  2. Cute cutline (that’s journalism speak for photo caption)

Beautiful bee shots – and I never know which bee is which, so thank you for the information 🙂

You can just about make out his long tongue in the photo on the left (and I always have to look them up!)

        Yes, I see it 🙂

I am on Instagram, when I have something worth sharing. Not often 🤣💗 I do like the Header.

Anything worth sharing today? Are you still in the UK?

Maybe, I haven’t looked yet. Chevin Forest Trail this morning, near Otley. Here till Wednesday. Pateley Bridge tomorrow and Ripley Gardens Sunday. Not especially keen on my phone shots. 🤔💙

Got the car back, at last! Possibility of a garden visit tomorrow. Maybe down to Surrey next weekend.

          I’ll wave as I fly over 🤣🛰️💕

  5. What a marvelous shot, Jude! I’m not Instagram either. I have enough trouble keeping up with blogging, email, work on my parents’ estate, and let’s not forget house and yard work. :-/

    1. Heyjude says:

      I figured that’s what you meant 😂

      1. I can’t help myself when it comes to correctly a comment. 🙂

I’m the same, I do wish there was a preview setting so we could check.

What a shot! You must be so proud, to have caught that tongue.

    1. Heyjude says:

Pure luck! I just keep shooting with the hope of getting one good shot.

There have been a lot of bees in the garden recently, I can’t help trying to photograph them.

      1. Suzanne says:

That’s wonderful hearing about your abundance of bees. Too many other stories of them not doing so well.

        1. Heyjude says:

          Not many honey bees though…

        2. Suzanne says:

Hopefully they’re somewhere else being “busy”.

    Lovely moments of lovely pic

  9. GolfGirl says:

The pictures of the bees are so clear and crisp. I love how they are sitting on flowers getting pollen. I can see so many details, they look so fuzzy and adorable! Much cuter than when they try to sting me in my garden.
