The B3306 between St Ives and St Just has to be among the most beautiful roads to drive along with the Celtic sea on one side and the hills of West Penwith on the other. It is one of my favourites and I never tire of it. A word of warning though. There are blind bends and single track stretches with the road running through farm buildings as seen in this photo. Be prepared to do a lot of reversing and squeezing into the hedgerow (Cornish hedges may look like a normal hedge but have a heart of stone which is not forgiving to your vehicle).
The Penwith Peninsula is rich in prehistoric monuments, Bronze Age field systems and lots more as well as more recent evidence of the mining industry. It’s not known as the Tin Coast for nothing…

I well remember scraping the side of my car when ‘easing’ into a hedge near Boscastle to let a campervan pass. I had to have a front wing and passenger door resprayed when I got home to London.

True. I remember in Lake Como a bus that must have taken five minutes and any number of back-and-forth moves to get around a corner.
Love those Cornish lanes. When we’re travelling abroad, I yearn for Cornwall more than I yearn for Kent, where we live. Always love seeing your Cornwall posts for that reason alone.
Ah, but Kent is lovely too. So many gorgeous gardens and an interesting coastline and I’m rather fond of Canterbury and Sandwich. Maybe you are more west?

That is a great drive. I used to love those narrow west country lanes that thread through farms and villages. And I know what you mean about the hedges since I used to build them!
When I was many years younger, I’d have loved to travel around Cornwall by motorbike. Sadly those times are long gone, as is the bike. I missed out on that one but I did live at the other end of the country, so wouldn’t have thought of it. Ideal for the narrow roads though!
I remember that being a beautiful road. I left it to John to drive it though! I’m not confident about reversing and squeezing past, my spatial awareness isn’t very good in that way.
