This month sees the end of the colour challenge that I was hosting over on Travel Words. It was great fun challenging myself and others to focus on one colour at a time each month. December was all about the mixing of bright colours and a round trip of just under 100 miles to visit the Eden Project on a very wet Monday was all about the kaleidoscopic colours.

It was an interesting afternoon and early evening visit, though driving there in the pouring rain wasn’t pleasant and my main objection to visiting the Eden Project after dark is that the way back to the car parks is not very well signposted and also very dark. Because of Covid restrictions they were not running the shuttle buses to the car parks either. And a plea to all car manufacturers, please don’t make your headlights quite so bright! I’m sure people aren’t travelling with their full beam on all the time, but the glare sure makes it seem so.
I shall take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
Very colorful. That would have been great to see. Don’t get me started on car headlights though, it might be 2023 before my rant ends! All the best in the new year Jude.
Happy New Year to you, Jude.
Wow. Regarding car headlights – I’ve been thinking that for some time now. They seem very dazzling these days.
Really beautiful! Happy new year (again)! If we keep saying it, maybe it will be a good one.
What an amazing sight, Jude – I was particularly intrigued by the dancing mythical creatures at the entrance to the biomes. Such a shame the visit was marred by your access and egress – probably worth contacting them and pointing out the insecurity of the dark return to the car parks though?
I did fill in a survey they sent me and pointed out the lack of good signage in the dark. I can’t possibly be the first to mention it and it was the same in 2018 when I went at night. Though the buses could have been running then I suppose.
Hmm, perhaps worth writing directly to them to make sure that management do get to hear of it, as it could be a real safety issue on a range of levels. At Windsor Illuminated the access from the car parks to the event itself had twinkly lights all through the hedge that bordered it, which adequately lit the route whilst building up the atmosphere. And with masks, why are they not running the shuttle buses anyway?
Good idea. The buses weren’t running as only the lower car parks were in use.
Had no idea the Eden Project was so beautifully lit up at night Jude. I have only seen it on programmes during the day time. I dislike drivers driving on full beam at night too – it must have been very tricky to navigate the roads glad you got home safe and sound 🙂
The lights are only for the Christmas period. The domes do look good though.
