Christmas in Cornwall

We’re on the beach!
Sinking sand.
Wet shoes
and feet.
The tide
comes in
with surf

Foreign gulls
reclaim the shore
from the natives.
Clouds come
and go.
The sun plays
hide and seek
in a light breeze.

Dog walkers
in sensible boots
and dogs
with sensible paws
walk briskly.
Whilst we meander
avoiding rivulets
running to the sea.
Opting for soft paths
among the dunes
and marram grass.

And still the children play…

  1. Fabulous. Might go down to the sea later. Have a great day.

Thanks Andrew. These photos were from the other day, it’s definitely not a day for beach walking today! Maybe tomorrow.

TBH this was on Thursday, it’s raining and foggy today, but it’s probably quiet! 😂

I have never been to the beach on Christmas Day.
Maybe some time in the future…
    Best wishes, Pete. x

A boxing day walk? It’s nice on the salt marshes between Cley and Blakeney at this time of year.

  6. Cheers to you Christmas by the sea. Merry Christmas, Jude.

    1. Heyjude says:

Confused by a link to Walking the Kelseys? I’m nowhere near the beach today but I suspect it may have been damp in Tavira. I’ll check it out on Monday. Merry Christmas, Jude! 🤗💕

    1. Heyjude says:

Confusing indeed as there are no links in this post! What time do you fly back tomorrow?

      1. restlessjo says:

9.35am. Will be sad to go. I presumed you had been updating something. 🤔💕

        1. Heyjude says:

That’s an early start. From Leeds / Bradford?

        2. restlessjo says:

6.20 bus from the centre to Leeds – Bradford 🙄💕 Snow potential. Whoopee!

      2. margaret21 says:

Beach walking definitely beings out the best of our Inner Child. Enjoy the moment!

  9. Children never seem to feel the cold. What a treat to go walking at the beach.

Very wonderful prose/poetry Jude – you could have been writing about Christmas on Kiawah 😊. Loved your beautiful post! Happy Holidays to you and yours.
