What a beauty of a shot! I like the name, too.

When I saw that at last the honey bees were visiting I just had to go back and grab the camera!

This is a flower I’ve always loved, but I’ve recently discovered what a thug it is. It wants to take over the world. Great photo though.

I’m not sure whether this one is as invasive as it is a cross cultivar and quite compact, though like all Anemone hupehensis it has a slight running habit. With my taller pink one I fid it quite easy to dig out if it tries to spread too far. The white one, ‘Wild Swan’ is much more compact. Thought to be a cross between autumn-flowering Anemone hupehensis and spring-flowering Anemone rupicola.

  4. A wonderful, warming photo!

I was beginning to lose hope of seeing any honey bees this year!

      1. … I hope we never lose that hope!

Lovely colours to cheer up a dull damp day in Beetley.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

It is a lovely colour to have in the garden at this time of year. And I am so glad to see the bees! Hope it is not still dull and damp in Beetley! We are having some lovely days at the moment. I am sure it will all change by the end of the week.

Better today, and lasting until the weekend, apparently. (Carol Kirkwood told me!) x

Ah, OH is a fan of the lovely Carol 😁

Great capture of the honey bee! And the colour is wonderful – makes the takeover attempts more forgivable! (They’re thugs here but beautiful ones.)

    1. Heyjude says:

They are so beautiful at this time of the year, a bit of thuggery can be forgiven. There is a large clump of pure white ones in a garden on my way to the supermarket and they look fabulous.

I just planted a white one by a silver birch – could be the start of a white border… 🙂

  7. Love the colours and clarity of the photo!

Thanks Megan. Had to pop back indoors for the proper camera when I saw the bees on this plant. Should have used the macro lens but it was a bit too windy. Fortunately this lens creates a lovely blurry background.

    Wonderful picture!

Thanks Pit. Should have used the macro lens, but it was a bit too windy.

Beautifully captured, Jude. It’s been a treat passing all these huge houses in Auckland and their spring flowering gardens.

    1. Heyjude says:

I hope the spring flowers are giving you hope. And that the Squire is doing well. My thoughts are with you both.

      1. Suzanne says:

Still got bucket loads of hope. I’m utterly gutted that I still can’t visit Les who is now hit the bottom with no white blood cells and very low red cells etc. Just a waiting game for the new donor cells to work. It will a long journey, luckily I am wearing my big girls pants and being strong 🙂

Not being allowed to see him must hurt, but I imagine it is the safest option for him at this point. Are you able to talk on the phone, or is he too ill at the moment?

    Cool photos 🙂

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks! Might have to take the macro lens out and see what else I can discover.
