At the beginning of the year I was bored of staying at home with only the usual local lanes to wander so I decided to set a focus for my photography. One of the subjects was light and shade. When I saw the challenge proposed by Tina (one of the four Lens-Artists) was all about the light this week I was reminded of that topic. Making the decision to visit a garden on Tuesday I thought of this and looked at ways to illustrate the importance of light in photography and the ways a photographer can use it. As the sun was strong that day I had two thoughts in mind. Shadows and Backlight. When I looked at my photos deciding which ones I wanted to use, I chose Shadows, as I love the patterns that were created on the woodland paths.
The shadow patterns were not only influenced by the light, but also the wind. These two photos are from the same spot, but the wind affected the result.
And it was fun to try an recognise the plant from the shadow. Not always easy! Patterns from the tree canopy tended to be much more abstract.
Lens Artists Photo Challenge #162 | It’s all about the light
Interesting idea for a ‘mini challenge within a challenge’ š I especially like your two photos in the same spot which illustrate the difference the wind can make.
Thanks Sarah, yes it was interesting how much the wind influenced what I was capturing. Sometimes the shadows were clear other times just an ink blot!
That’s a nice fun set, and a bit of a challenge.
Many thanks.
Excellent shadows and light.
Thanks John, sometimes I can think ‘outside the box’ š
::thumbsup::
what fun shadows
Something different. I did take photos of flowers too, so eventually I’ll do another post.

Jude, these are great patterns.
