Hayle: Carnsew Pool & River

On my way to the supermarket last week I was distracted by the colour of the water as I crossed the causeway. I am used to seeing shades of aquamarine in the sea, but rarely this colour in the river. So before doing the weekly shop I had a stroll along the river.

Carnsew Pool, Hayle – Friday June 18, 2021

It was an extremely windy day and not particularly warm, but the walk along the river was pleasant enough and although you can’t reach Hayle or Porthkidney beaches from here there are some sand dunes along the river offering shelter from the wind and where a few people were sitting and enjoying the views.

And over on Hayle beach the kitesurfers were having a lot of fun.

Oh to have this on your supermarket run. I’m so envious!

I have a choice of sea views, depending on which supermarket I go to. Tesco gives me Carbis bay and Godrevy, sainsbury’s gives me Mounts Bay. Very lucky πŸ€

I was regretting not bringing along a jacket, but it was so lovely out there.

  4. Best supermarket run ever!

The one to Tesco has great views too, though not the opportunity for a walk.

What a beautiful day, Jude! The chill doesn’t show in the photos, aside from the kite surfers, and it looks blissful. You must be happy to have the world back to yourselves again after G7. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I enjoyed strolling with you.

I only need to see the water to feel happy. And yes it’s good to have our place back again, though I suspect St Ives is busy.

Did you see about the blue seas around Arran? Caused by micro-plankton, apparently.

Yes. I saw that. Quite incredible.

  7. Oh I would definitely switch shopping to these views.. what a lovely place you have there. Over here, Danube never have that kind of Aquamarine color. As far as I can remember, yesterday when I was out running, it was chocolate brown. We had so much rainy days last week thatΒ΄s why..
Enjoy your beautiful world and thanks for taking us along!

The North Sea is often brown looking. This colour is what drew me to Cornwall. Sometimes it reminds me of New Zealand.

  8. Very pretty indeed. One rarely (or perhaps never) sees that colour off the Belgian coast πŸ˜‰

I can see how you were drawn to take time out of your chore schedule & enjoy that magnificent view. The colours in the water are so gorgeous!

Those turquoise colours are what attracted me to Cornwall. Makes you feel as though you are abroad.

That’s a glorious shade of blue/turquoise! And what a wonderful walk to the shops you have if this is along your route πŸ˜€
