April is a square month and this year Becky wants us to find the bright things in life. I had a few ideas all relating to Cornwall of course with my coruscating seas and cloudless skies, happy, shiny people and bright lights, but then I decided upon showcasing all the bright and beautiful flora found in the county as a tribute to theย first everย Squares in September 2017 which was all about flowers. So prepared to be dazzled.

Lots of these around here ๐๐
I love them.
I passed a hedge full, in the wild, on the way home at teatime ๐ ๐
what a brilliant shot of it – love the yellow behind, really adds to the brightness and the composition
I think this one was in Penzance, in someone’s front garden. I may have, erm, tweaked the colours slightly…
hee hee you naughty girl on colour tweaking!!
Nothing in the rules about tweaking ๐
hee hee, that’s true!!!
Great shot. Felt like it tickled my nose! ๐
Best wishes, Pete.x
They are so much like the baby bottle brushes. When I first saw one in Cape Town I was very surprised.
Gorgeous! We have four in our garden.
Scented?
Well, I’ve never checked that. I’ll get back to you. I tend not to get too close because they’re usually covered with bees.
Well that’s a good sign!
Actually I am not sure that bottlebrush are scented, I thought we were talking about the rose and I know you have a rose garden. Looking them up I see that the leaves can release a lemon scent when crushed. You’ll have to test that out for me!
I will.
No, our bottlebrush has no scent. Just bees!
Lovely and bright! ๐Donโt see many of them here.
I wonder if there are any in Felbrigg walled garden? Or maybe Norfolk is too cold.
