Square January #30

UP on the Top

Always the optimist, Becky is hoping that 2021 will be a more positive year as we march onwards and upwards. Yes, the theme for January Squares is the word ‘up’ and as usual she invites us all to join her in a month of ‘ups’ of any description. The only absolute rule is that your main photograph must be SQUARE, and remember a square has 4 equal sides.

    Where’s that chimney?

    1. BeckyB says:

I am going to guess at a Cornish tin chimney

      1. Sue says:

Well, that’s my thought too….but where???

      1. Sue says:

Ah, I only remember the name of Wheal Coates….but I know my mine adit exploration was around that area (but not at Wheal Coates)so I’m wondering if it might have been West Kitty, and my father is no longer around for me to ask.

        1. Heyjude says:

Well it’s very close to Wheal Coates and quite a few around St Agnes, so more than likely.

  2. restlessjo says:

Ah, the lady herself! You’re being talked about, you know 🙂 🙂

    1. Heyjude says:

      I noticed 👀

  3. margaret21 says:

Ah, your old friend. Always reliably up at the top of your photo-opportunity list. And quite right too,

    1. Heyjude says:

Couldn’t not include one, but it’s not Alice.

      1. margaret21 says:

Isn’t it? Oh, sorry, Not a connoisseur, me!

  4. BeckyB says:

Very subtle sketching today – I like it 🙂

    1. Heyjude says:

Thank you. I can’t remember what I used on this one as it is pre phone days.

  5. beetleypete says:

The birds set that off nicely, Jude. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. Heyjude says:

Yes, they set the scene well. Only have crows on Alice (my closest engine shaft)

  6. bushboy says:

A wonderful place to view the world 🙂

    1. Heyjude says:

They seem to think so. Probably a view of the sea from up there!

  7. Who said nobody hangs around this place anymore?

  8. It’s interesting that they are so carefully spaced out on the top – observing appropriate distancing! 😀

    1. Heyjude says:

pre-pandemic – maybe they knew something?

      1. 😀 Wish they’d spread the word and we’d have been more prepared. 🙂

  9. Graham says:

Nice photo. I thought at first that the top was a decorative feature. Then I realized they were very neatly spaced birds.

  10. Lucid Gypsy says:

You’ve made it look very dark and atmospheric Jude!

    1. Heyjude says:

They are rather dramatic. Rising up out of the earth.
