Square January #27

Always the optimist, Becky is hoping that 2021 will be a more positive year as we march onwards and upwards. Yes, the theme for January Squares is the word ‘up’ and as usual she invites us all to join her in a month of ‘ups’ of any description. The only absolute rule is that your main photograph must be SQUARE, and remember a square has 4 equal sides.

I’m not sure what this is – nice photo though – my first thought was ‘bananas’….

    1. BeckyB says:

It’s amazing isn’t it how a close up can distort our perspective. I was about to make a crazy guess too, and then spotted the tag

      1. margaret21 says:

I looked for the tag, but couldn’t find it. I’ll look again …

        1. BeckyB says:

or look at Jo’s comment – she guessed correctly!

    2. Heyjude says:

      It’s an odd looking succulent.

  2. restlessjo says:

I bet you’re building UP to a big crescendo on Sunday! 🙂 🙂 This is lovely! Some kind of succulent?

    1. Heyjude says:

Yup! I think I have saved my best for last. 😊 You must be gutted about the proposed quarantine restrictions.

      1. restlessjo says:

I’m trying not to think about it, Jude. Best hope is it doesn’t stay in place long. Getting tight and restrictive here too and I hate it! Will end up a police state and I’ll be a insurrectionnist! 🤣🤣 Maintain a sense of humour at all times…. trying! 💞💞

        1. Heyjude says:

Ah, Jo. We really should have closed borders last year and then we might not have been in this mess. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but 100,000 deaths is far too many.

        2. restlessjo says:

How many of those deaths would have arisen anyway we really don’t know, Jude. But yes – you should have and us too. 🙄💕

  3. BeckyB says:

ooh was trying to work out what these were – succulent was not one of my guesses!

    1. Heyjude says:

Macro lens, so an unusual perspective.

      1. BeckyB says:

        Really is – wonderful

  4. beetleypete says:

Lovely close-up, Jude. I am presuming it’s something from the Cactus family.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

    1. Heyjude says:

A succulent, but I don’t remember which one.

  5. I guessed succulents, yay! Nice to see the gradations in colour up close like that.

    1. Heyjude says:

Succulents are very interesting, especially up close.

  6. Tish Farrell says:

Such a brilliant colour combination, Jude.

  7. Close-ups with clarity are brilliant – so thank you!

    1. Heyjude says:

      Thank you, Frank.

  8. susurrus says:

This reminds me of Chihuly’s art glass.

  9. Great minds! 🙂 I love the pink tips on the leaves.

  10. It’s a pretty colour combination. 🙂
