      We often get that lemon line at this time of year. It gradually deepens or simply fades away.

      Yes, the twisted hazel which is lovely in the winter, but I’m not fond of it in summer, the leaves look diseased.

        I know what you mean. But there’s so much else then to enjoy, so it’s an OK trade-off I think.

          I’d have preferred a crab apple so there is more colour, but I suspect blossom wouldn’t last long up here.

          But then you’d have crab apples for jelly! I always loved my crab apple tree for that when we had one.
