My Muse

A few years ago, when we first moved to Cornwall, this lighthouse captured my imagination and I loved visiting the area to photograph it. Sadly this year my only views have been from afar, close to home. In early spring when it is usually quiet(ish) in Cornwall we were told not to venture far from home. Although this location isn’t far, it certainly isn’t within walking distance, so I kept away even though I was itching to walk along that beach. Then in July when we were allowed to travel more, the crowds of tourist descended on Cornwall and there was no way I was going to any beach let alone this one. When schools went back to school this month I decided that I would go there, though not on a weekend. Luckily Monday was a glorious day – warm, clear skies and no wind.Β  And for the first time this year I have been able to visit my muse.

  1. That’s one of our favourite places too but haven’t been for too many months for the same reasons as you. Good to know it’s quieter now and that you had a good time. πŸ™‚

The first car park was full and there was a long queue to the cafe, but plenty of spaces in the fields. A bit colder today though!

  2. Pit says:

I love lighthouses! And these pictures are gorgeous. πŸ™‚

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Pit. It was a glorious day! Unlike today which is cold, stormy and very wet!

      1. Pit says:

Here, it looks like a pleasant early autumn day: dew on the lawn, only 60 degrees, and lovely sunshine. πŸ™‚

  3. susurrus says:

I’m glad you made it – and under a blue sky too!

    1. Heyjude says:

It was lovely to walk along the shoreline again. I have missed that this year.

  4. margaret21 says:

Wonderful. Our beaches this week are those of Dumfries and Galloway, and it’s reminded me how much I love a seashore, preferably rocky. At least one post will follow our return home!

    1. Heyjude says:

Even though I don’t visit the beaches as often as I could, knowing they are there is comforting.

  5. Su Leslie says:

I’m so glad you’ve been able to visit and walk on the beach. Looks like it was a stunning day and your photos are lovely.

    1. Heyjude says:

It was a lovely couple of hours. I must make more of an effort to go to the beach.

      1. Su Leslie says:

        You and me both!

That first shot is a real beauty, Jude πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Funny how different it looks from the second angle. Glad you got your paddle, at last.

    1. Heyjude says:

The water was lovely, as was the ice cream 🍦at the end of the walk 😊

  7. Suzanne says:

Just lovely, Jude. For me, lighthouses are quite mystical, and the stories they could tell of stormy seas and sailors!

    1. Heyjude says:

I like a lighthouse too and often seek them out when travelling.

      1. Suzanne says:

There are a fascinating focal point when travelling along the coastlines.

  8. Graham says:

That’s a lovely beach and lighthouse. The Cornish coast is so special in that way.

    1. Heyjude says:

It’s an amazing beach and usually uncrowded, except for the car parks. Cornwall does have a beautiful coastline.

  9. Joanne Sisco says:

I can see why she’d be such a strong draw for you. You certainly picked a beautiful day for your photo! Hopefully you’ll get many more opportunities to walk along the beach before this strange year is over.

    1. Heyjude says:

It was a gorgeous day. I’m glad I went, I’ve not been very motivated lately.

  10. beetleypete says:

How soon such lovely weather vanishes. Nice to see your favourite spot under blue skies. 11 C maximum here today, torrential rain and 40 mph wind. Like winter already.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

    1. Heyjude says:

We had that yesterday, I was tempted to use the wood burner last night!

      1. beetleypete says:

We considered the central heating, but I went to bed at 8:30 pm instead. πŸ™‚

        1. Heyjude says:

Best place. Keep warm and drink lots.

        2. beetleypete says:

Heating on tonight! The worst rain for a couple of years. Beetley is awash! x

        3. Heyjude says:

Yikes! I see on the weather forecast that the east is in for a lot of rain and wind. Stay safe.
