A country stroll
Turns into a nightmare
When you discover that the public pathway
Is not all it seems.
That solid looking earth
parts
beneath your feet
without warning.
You fall
into the foul smelling underground
of a long lost mine shaft.
You scream
Your mouth forming a terrified O
Your fingers clawing the edge
of the hole
as the thick wet mud creeps
under your fingernails.
You frantically grab any tussock
to stop you falling
further
deeper
down
under the earth’s
surface…
Odd, the things you find on a countryside walk…
Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #71 | Creepy
You had me scared witless there! I’ll think twice about coming on a countryside walk with you! π π π Great bit of poesie!
Hahaha.. Glad you like it Jo, it’s quite safe really as long as you avoid the fields with the bulls. (and the mine shafts…) π
Hope you helped them clamber out!!
What? And risk falling down myself?
But what a great second verse it would make!
Haha, just your typical English countryside walker π
So very Cornish, then, Jude? Great bit of wordsmithery, you should do more…. ππ
Thanks Sue. You never know what you might come across in the country π

Gosh…you scared me! How creepy to see that hand coming up first…And your poetry perfect for the creepy feeling to sink in. I don’t know if I would dare coming along with you for a walk…
The hand was certainly scary. Glad you liked the post A-C, I only saw this at the weekend so perfect for the challenge.
