Picnic at the Rock

‘My’ hill is one of my favourite places to go. No matter how many times I climb up to the top I am mesmerised by the 360 degree views and the thought that once upon a time an Iron-age hillfort stood here. You can feel history in the air. A quiet, reflective and meditative place.

I’m not the only one of course. Often we find families on top enjoying a picnic. It’s a favourite dog walkers habitat and a visit on a summers evening for sunset is a never to be forgotten experience.

  1. And it’s obviously a great place to watch a beautiful sunset too. Lovely photo, Jude.

It is and much easier than driving to the coast, although we don’t get to see the sun slide into the sea from this vantage point.

Wonderful! I can see why you would claim it as yours. It does look a bit precarious!

Those rocks have been there a looong time. Can’t see them going anywhere soon.

This is a fabulous shot Jude. 😀

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Su, the family were in the right place at the right time to get the silhouette.

I can see why you like it so much. I would too. 🙂

These are terrific Jude. I can see why you’d love it. Sunsets look glorious and I’m a sucker for a good silhouette

    1. Heyjude says:

The sunset wasn’t that spectacular (well not compared to some we see), but a lovely orange glow in the sky. Finding this family up on the rocks was a gift!

  6. Joanne Sisco says:

I like the tiny silhouettes on the hill. A beautiful shot, Jude.

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Jo, it was the silhouettes I was aiming for. I don’t like taking photos of people, unless they are pretty much unrecognisable.

    Lovely! 😊

      Thank you 🙂

Gorgeous spot, and a perfect shot!

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Pit – they were just packing up to leave after photographing the sun setting so I was just in time to get them on the top of the rocks.

    1. Heyjude says:

I have many photos of and from the hill, but this is one of my best I think.

      1. I’d agree. It’s one of the loveliest photos I’ve seen. 🙂

  9. Colline says:

The view! No wonder you love it there!

    1. Heyjude says:

Ah, well, not much of a view today, back in the fog/cloud!! But atmospheric 😀
