Time for another sunset

January 16 2019 @ 16:38

…though not as you know it. This shot is facing north-east so the cloud is picking up the colours of the western sky, which actually was not as exciting. We haven’t had many spectacular sunsets this winter so far as the skies have been very cloudy and overcast for much of this month and December was very wet.

The yellow was very striking. Had to grab the camera and get a shot, though this is through a quite grimy window!

What a lovely billow of cloud! It lifts your whole spirit when the sky is like this, doesn’t it? πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Have a good week, Jude! Send me a news update?

    1. Heyjude says:

Even a glimpse of blue cheers me up after the grim November and December Jo. A little too wet and muddy for any walks yet though. Will do!

      1. restlessjo says:

Sitting on a bench, with a sore bum. Me, not the bench. One of life’s little mishaps. But it’s sunny πŸ˜ŽπŸ’•xx

        1. Heyjude says:

Oh, dear. A bit of a slip up?

        2. restlessjo says:

More a sort of hop and skip and bad landing. 😁 Home again now. Not safe to be let out xx

        3. Sue says:

Yikes, you’ll be vying with me soon

        4. restlessjo says:

I’ll try not to, Sue πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I was wearing flipflops and thought I’d stood on a piece of glass. It turned out to be a very sharp twig that pierced the bottom of the flipflop. Some days just don’t go to plan- the place I was going was closed when I got there. I quietly sang ‘I don’t like Mondays’ all the way home πŸ™‚

        5. Sue says:

Do you have a good singing voice, Jo?

        6. restlessjo says:

That’s a matter of opinion, Sue, but I do like to sing πŸ™‚

        7. Sue says:

          Well, I can’t sing myself…..

  3. Sue says:

    Quite a sight!

    1. Heyjude says:

First I have seen since October!!

        1. Heyjude says:

Cloud seems to build up over the hills and even on a clearer day the sunset hasn’t amounted to much.

  4. beetleypete says:

That’s a powerful image, and well-spotted. I think it works really well, Jude.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

    1. Heyjude says:

We only have two windows facing this direction – from the upstairs room. I was just on my way down when I noticed the cloud. I usually keep my eye on the western sky and that wasn’t doing much at all. Hope you are keeping warm, looked like your part of the country is in for some low temperatures this week!

      1. beetleypete says:

Very cold today, Jude. ( 2-3 C) Heavy mist too. Beetley would make a good setting for a Gothic thriller today. πŸ™‚

  5. Chloris says:

    Lovely shot.

  6. How gorgeous, Jude! πŸ™‚

  7. Lignum Draco says:

Love the richness of colour here. I always hope for a few clouds when photographing near sunrise and sunset.

    1. Heyjude says:

Clouds definitely help, just not too many of them!

      1. Lignum Draco says:

Very true. Just enough for texture and to catch the light.

  8. Not as exciting????!!!!! You’re so spoilt! Thank you for sharing such a sub-standard sunset.

    1. Heyjude says:

Well this is a reflection of a sunset really, I do expect more!!

  9. Lucid Gypsy says:

It still looks good to me, we’ve had some good sunrises recently but there are to many houses in the way!
