Winter Sunlight in Penzance Harbour

Albert Pier – Penzance Harbour December 2018.

For someone who is a terrible sailor I have a keen interest in boats and anything nautical from a photography point of view. There are just so many interesting ‘things’ on a boat – my favourite ones are those that aren’t bobbing up and down – like these pretty toy-like vessels out of the water for a winter clean I suppose.

      Really caught my eye Pauline.

The light is magnificent Jude. Like you, I’m not really a sailor, but I do like boats.

    1. Heyjude says:

Yes, lovely light that day. Probably the last full day of sunshine we have seen!

I agree. Stranded out of the water makes for some great shots, Jude. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Watching Murray struggle. 😦

    1. Heyjude says:

Poor Murray. I see he put up a good fight. Have to wonder what is wrong with him as a new hip should not be faulty, must be some irritation around the joint. Let’s hope he can get it fixed, he has the money to keep trying and he is far too young to have to spend the rest of his life in pain. I’ll miss him on the courts.

      1. restlessjo says:

It was all very emotional, and they interviewed him on court afterwards as well as Bautista-Agut, who looked relieved to have won. It was a tough match to play on return from injury. 😦 I’ll miss him too.

I am also unhappy on water. However, I think we have an instinctive ‘island race’ mentality, when it comes to the sea, and boats.
Great light that day, Jude. πŸ™‚
    Best wishes, Pete. x

I love looking at the sea from the land!

Boats are frequently worth pointing a camera at, Jude! And the light here is lovely

    1. Heyjude says:

Yes, that golden light as the sun starts to disappear really does catch this harbour perfectly. Sadly no sun at all when we were there last week.

        😟😟

  6. The light is magnificent. I also am drawn to photogenic boats, and I love to go out on them as well, as long as someone else is in charge! πŸ™‚

    1. Heyjude says:

You are obviously a better sailor than I am!

      1. Haha, maybe, as long as I don’t have to do anything but sit and enjoy. πŸ™‚

Such beautiful lighted you captured here Jude. Hope to see a little of this area in the spring!

    1. Heyjude says:

Spring is a good time to visit Cornwall, avoid the Easter school holidays though if you can!

      1. Lynn says:

We are thinking early to mid May.

        1. Heyjude says:

Early May you will hit the May Day holiday but that is usually just a long weekend. (Monday 6th) The last week in May is a school holiday.

  8. Beautiful colours. I’ve gone off travelling in small boats as i’ve got older. I don’t want to be too near the water 😟.

Boats are fine. It’s the water I object to πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Now if only the light could be like that all winter, I’d be much happier and I’m pretty sure you would too!

    1. Heyjude says:

I definitely would Gilly. These gloomy months certainly get me down. I am trying to remain cheerful though this year and even started on the spring cleaning today!!

The sky, the boats, the bricks….no wonder you had to get that photo Jude πŸ™‚

    1. Heyjude says:

Glad you appreciate the view Brian πŸ™‚
