I popped over to St Michael’s Mount to get one last visit in before the garden closed at the end of September. Leaving just before the tide started to come back in I was struck by the absolute clearness of the light over the mount on my way to the car park. Usually the castle in my photos only shows up as a silhouette.

Such sharp focus and clear picture. Looks like a medieval castle, if you don’t see the vehicle in the front. A few “ant” people too!
The castle buildings date from the 12th century and the village itself hasn’t changed much in the last 100 years.
A perfect setting for a historical movie!
It has appeared in a few 🙂
Oh! Which ones, if you don’t mind sharing?

Thanks a lot. Appreciate the trouble you took. Have seen two the movies mentioned. Will see them again carefully!
Beautiful picture. Was there a few weeks ago as daughter sails there. Magical place
I always loved to see that place, when staying in Cornwall. The light was just right for you that day, that’s for sure.
Best wishes, Pete.
I think it was the light down here that attracted me to this area. It is just so pure.
A perfect photo, Jude. A magical place that i would live to visit.
A very popular place to visit Jane. I was astonished to find that even at the end of September the car parks were almost full! I think April/May is the nicest time to visit the gardens when everything is new and fresh.
Wonderful shot.
Thanks Chloris. I have quite a lot of photos of the Mount, but most are not as clear as this one.
Oh wow! Wonderful shot and lovely place!
Thanks. It is a magical place, and very popular with tourists.
Interesting sky compliments the composition
It was that cloud cover that enabled me to get this image without the castle being silhouetted. Not the right time of day to point the camera in that direction!
Well seen
You were in the right place at the right time for this photo, Jude. It’s beautiful.
You do have good timing Jude, great shot 🙂
Thanks Gilly, I am a much more patient photographer now than I used to be.
What a difference in the light compared to when I saw it! Great, Jude.
