Most of the Cornish ‘hedges’ are made out of stone with all manner of native plants finding homes in the nooks and crannies, but occasionally you come across rustic fences comprising of chunky posts and strings of barbed wire – usually around arable land. It is, however, unusual to see a horse and carriage heading towards you. This photo was snapped through the car windscreen whilst waiting in a passing place for this pairing to go by.
Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #10 | Fences
Looks like a very intricate fence – and poles as well. With the horse and carriage the photo seems to belong in the 19th century. A very special shot.
Thanks Leya. Sorry there are no hydrangeas, but I will try and get a photo of a hedgerow for you π

Agreed, A C!
Yes, because youβve made the photo black and white, it puts it in a completely different age. Itβs a most serendipitous moment.
That was one of those ‘moments’ to be glad you had your camera handy. It reminds me of the ‘Amish’ carriages that you see in America. ( I haven’t seen them of course, except on TV) π
Best wishes, Pete. x
I got that impression too. I think it is used for weddings, though the bride and groom wouldn’t have seen much with the hood up.
What a lovely sight that is, Jude! π π Quite beautiful! (we have accepted an offer this morning π )
WOOT!
Now the hard work begins, all those forms to fill in and correspondence from the solicitor! I hope it is a speedy transaction, but it won’t be easy to do from Tavira.
Perfection Jude. Wonderful timing on this one
Well caught!!
Lovely photo, but all kudos for the b/w processing and tattered edges to the frame.
Aw, thanks LD.
