Most of the Cornish ‘hedges’ are made out of stone with all manner of native plants finding homes in the nooks and crannies, but occasionally you come across rustic fences comprising of chunky posts and strings of barbed wire – usually around arable land. It is, however, unusual to see a horse and carriage heading towards you. This photo was snapped through the car windscreen whilst waiting in a passing place for this pairing to go by.

Looks like a very intricate fence – and poles as well. With the horse and carriage the photo seems to belong in the 19th century. A very special shot.

Yes, because you’ve made the photo black and white, it puts it in a completely different age. It’s a most serendipitous moment.
That was one of those ‘moments’ to be glad you had your camera handy. It reminds me of the ‘Amish’ carriages that you see in America. ( I haven’t seen them of course, except on TV) 🙂

I got that impression too. I think it is used for weddings, though the bride and groom wouldn’t have seen much with the hood up.
