the case of the disappearing lighthouse

I woke up to glorious sunshine and the bluest of blue skies today. Decided to nip over to Godrevy for a walk before the shops opened at 10:30 and see if the heather is blooming. Before I miss that too! I was not surprised to see a finger of fog or sea fret spilling in over St Ives Bay as we have had fog up on the hill for a couple of days this week. But when I parked in the field (get there early if you want a spot, by the time I left just before midday it was almost full) and set off around Godrevy Point I was surprised that I couldn’t see the lighthouse. Not a peep.ย  So I found a bench and sat and waited. There was an interesting almost a fogbow in front of me, but although my eyes could see it, my camera struggled.

But this is my favourite shot.

And then a little later on my way back from the Knavocks.

Phew! Not missing after all. I did notice that even the lichens down here are looking decidedly not themselves. Slightly jaundiced rather than egg-yolk yellow.
