in my garden | mr grumpy

I’m not sure what kind he is (possibly a Ringlet?) as he wouldn’t open his wings for me, just sat there on the honeysuckle leaf looking grumpy. I had my macro lens with me as I was photographing bees, or trying to, and he was just that little bit too high up for me to get a clearer picture of him, except for the furry face that surely only a mother could love?

Oh dare I say it! But he looks a bit like jack when we have been on the road for weeks….🤫

He’s the butterfly version of the cookie monster. Your picture has made me think I don’t know as much about butterfly anatomy as I ought to.

Wonderful butterfly Jude 😀 I usually find Ringlets open their wings more than sit with them folded

There wasn’t much for him to feast on there, I was hoping he would move onto a flower.

They never do what you want them to do 😂

Does he have a second – or third eye?

    1. Heyjude says:

I have no idea. I didn’t ask him.

  6. You did a good job in capturing that furriness.

I love how macros show things you don’t even realise are there.

      1. Agreed. That’s an important reason for using a macro lens. Our unaided eyes see only so much.
