A Tall Ship

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.

A face on this gorgeous ship as well as on Masefield’s sea.

I’ll have another sky tomorrow 🙂

Oh, you did confuse me! I was trying to work out where the sky was 🙂 🙂 Have you gone to the Eden illuminations? NOT jealous. I saw a reindeer today.

    1. Heyjude says:

Reindeers in Truro the other evening, but I only saw them on the telly. Yes, just back from Eden. the light show was nice, but my photos dreadful 😦 and I really do hate driving at night.

      1. restlessjo says:

Oh, shame! I was ooking forward to the walk 😦 Perhaps you can salvage them. Country roads at night are no fun, so I’m chuffed you made the effort. 🙂 🙂

        1. Heyjude says:

I just don’t do well with oncoming lights, never have.

        2. restlessjo says:

          I hate them too. 😦

Night driving UGH especially more so if it is raining…

        1. Heyjude says:

…which it was, but thankfully only lightly.

    Great textures, Jude!

  4. pommepal says:

That poem is a favourite of mine Jude. Nice, textural image to go with it

    1. Heyjude says:

Yes it is a lovely poem.

  5. Absolutely beautiful shot – the detail and then the arc of sky.

  6. beetleypete says:

The ship reminds me of those Greek and Roman galleys that had eyes carved on the front. Good textures indeed, Jude.
Driving at night (with older eyes) is no fun in country areas. I can’t cope with it at all now, and have to be back before dark, like a child!
    Best wishes, Pete. x

    1. Heyjude says:

I won’t be making a habit of it Pete, though I do have one more evening jaunt to attend before the end if the month.

  7. Paula says:

Great detail, Jude, with a watchful eye. Smashing rendition!

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Paula, this boat has been restored (no masts) and is out of the water, but I can’t find any information about it, but I do like the wood.

  8. Elizabeth says:

This poem was one we memorized back when memorizing was a key part of curriculum.

  9. Lucid Gypsy says:

The texture’s cool and I love the curves. The poem is a favourite of mine as well. I didn’t know Eden did Christmas lights, obvious really. I’d like to see them but it’s a bit of a trek.

    1. Heyjude says:

Eden has a sound and light show, so music and laser lights. It was different and the band was excellent, but I wouldn’t rush back. A lot of standing and the trek back to the car was tiring not to mention the drive home in the dark and rain.
