I’m sure I have heard that it damages the lens? But that might be an Old Wives Tale. Anyway I don’t shoot exactly into the sun, but in that direction. I do love the way the water shines. More to come.
Had to wait for the sun to disappear behind a cloud otherwise there was no definition of the cliffs, but I got a couple of interesting shots in this direction.
I try to avoid shooting into the sun. This specacular photo makes me wonder why.

It’s not the lens that can be damaged, but the camera’s sensor and shutter curtains. Here’s more information:

Ah. So not completely wrong then. Thanks for the link. Not sure if I want to read it though…
Love the sepia, old fashioned look about this photo Jude
I like that too, no editing, it just came out like this!
That is an amazing image โau naturelleโ love it
Nicely atmospheric, and a timeless fe el to this, Jude
A beach in late autumn sun. Quite busy actually, though no-one in the water.

Your ‘contre-jour’ worked well, Jude. I rarely attempt it myself.
Best wishes, Pete. x

๐ Really like this one. Hope you’re pleased with it?
Thanks Ros. I have two or three shots like this that I am quite happy with.
I really like this Jude, especially the haze off the water. ๐
The wind was blowing quite strongly around that end of the beach.
๐ Isn’t it cool that in a totally static medium, wind is visible.
I hadn’t looked at it like that, but yes!
Lovely Jude!
Thanks Lyn. Not my favourite one though. I have a couple of others.
You pulled it off very nicely Jude. Lovely photograph!
Thank you Adrian. I keep trying for one of Roath engine from the beach, but need a really low tide!
I like taking shots like this, but I’m too daft to have thought I might be damaging my camera ๐ฆ
As I said Gilly, probably just something (false) I heard.
Itโs a stunning capture Jude. Taking notes on this one and will remember this photo as we spend time in the ice and snow this winter.
Thanks Sue. Yes, you should definitely try this. You’ll get some spectacular results on snow.
