1. I try to avoid shooting into the sun. This specacular photo makes me wonder why.

    1. Heyjude says:

I’m sure I have heard that it damages the lens? But that might be an Old Wives Tale. Anyway I don’t shoot exactly into the sun, but in that direction. I do love the way the water shines. More to come.

      1. It’s not the lens that can be damaged, but the camera’s sensor and shutter curtains. Here’s more information:

        1. Heyjude says:

Ah. So not completely wrong then. Thanks for the link. Not sure if I want to read it though…

  2. pommepal says:

Love the sepia, old fashioned look about this photo Jude

    1. Heyjude says:

I like that too, no editing, it just came out like this!

      1. pommepal says:

That is an amazing image โ€œau naturelleโ€ love it

  3. Sue says:

Nicely atmospheric, and a timeless fe el to this, Jude

    1. Heyjude says:

A beach in late autumn sun. Quite busy actually, though no-one in the water.

Your ‘contre-jour’ worked well, Jude. I rarely attempt it myself.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

    1. Heyjude says:

Had to wait for the sun to disappear behind a cloud otherwise there was no definition of the cliffs, but I got a couple of interesting shots in this direction.

  5. Ros says:

๐Ÿ™‚ Really like this one. Hope you’re pleased with it?

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Ros. I have two or three shots like this that I am quite happy with.

  6. Su Leslie says:

I really like this Jude, especially the haze off the water. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Heyjude says:

The wind was blowing quite strongly around that end of the beach.

      1. Su Leslie says:

๐Ÿ™‚ Isn’t it cool that in a totally static medium, wind is visible.

        1. Heyjude says:

I hadn’t looked at it like that, but yes!

  7. Lynn says:

    Lovely Jude!

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Lyn. Not my favourite one though. I have a couple of others.

  8. Chillbrook says:

You pulled it off very nicely Jude. Lovely photograph!

    1. Heyjude says:

Thank you Adrian. I keep trying for one of Roath engine from the beach, but need a really low tide!

  9. Lucid Gypsy says:

I like taking shots like this, but I’m too daft to have thought I might be damaging my camera ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    1. Heyjude says:

As I said Gilly, probably just something (false) I heard.

  10. Sue Slaght says:

Itโ€™s a stunning capture Jude. Taking notes on this one and will remember this photo as we spend time in the ice and snow this winter.

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks Sue. Yes, you should definitely try this. You’ll get some spectacular results on snow.
