The mortuary chapel was built in the cemetery for the Nonconformist Christians – the dying wish of a local Methodist, who put up the money for it but this turned out to be insufficient and had to be topped up by another benefactor. It was completed in 1879 and was enlarged in 1909.
For whom that bell tolls indeed…
Best wishes, Pete. x
Indeed.
How charming
A lovely photo of a delightful building.
What a pretty little place!
Just stopping by with a hug 🙂 🙂
Thank you. Hugs accepted 🙂 Morning full of chores then off to the beach this arvo 😉
Beach? It’s tipping it down here, but I think you and Gilly have the good weather this bit of the week 🙂 🙂
I know it well. Always a relief to get there uninjured from golf balls!
Haha… that is so true! I need to go back and explore the cemetery a bit more, there are some interesting looking headstones.
What a pretty building and a delightful way to remember.
Lovely chapel, Jude. I am sorry I only noticed it now. Thank you very much.
No worries Paula, I know you have been struggling recently with your hand.
