High tide in Porthleven
Does your focus change in one photo to the other? Does colour enhance the composition or distract you? What changes? I’d like to know your impressions.

The B&W works really well.
Thank you Andrew, I like the B&W. Feels as though it could be from another age.
I’ve been to Porthleven and I think I like the color photo because it makes me think of a postcard of a place I enjoyed.
Yes, it is a pretty harbour, even better in sunshine!
The white cottage stands out more in the colour photo, to my eyes anyway.
Thank you Denzil. I believe the colour version is winning!
I love the white cottage in both but it is highlighted more in the B & W photograph.
The overflow of the river seems more powerful too. Both are wonderful photographs.
Isadora 😎
I like the colour photo. The red pops and I love the way the sky fades into the horizon.
You know my response, I suspect 🙂 The black and white looks cold and uninviting to me, but the colour in the sky and that lovely pop of red makes me want to be there. I always love watching waves break over a pier so I’d be there anyway, but in the first photo I’d need a big scarf 🙂
The waves breaking over the pier was the reason we wandered down there, the bonus was finding the surfers! I rather like the B&W as it seems timeless. But yes, I am not surprised you prefer colour 🙂
