Solitude #1

It’s good to disconnect once in a while.
To hit the road and head off on your own,
absorb the beauty around you.

Listen to the birdsong,
and the stillness.
Smell the earth
and the new growth
freshly washed
by winter rain.
Relax those shoulders

and let the mind flow.
And feel at ease
With oneself.

I have never had a problem being on my own. The older I get the more relaxed I feel in my own company. I don’t use social media other than blogging, I don’t carry my mobile phone everywhere and I certainly don’t check it constantly. I prefer to sit and watch people passing by rather than have my head down. To meet their eyes and share a smile. It doesn’t happen often. I don’t even wear a watch, but I usually know what time of day it is. I seek solitude and treasure every single moment of MY time.

  1. Jude, your photo is simply beautiful.

    1. Heyjude says:

      Thank you Carol ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. jennypellett says:

I’m with you all the way Jude…although that sounds contradictory- I just love the peace that solitude brings. I don’t do social media either and my mobile is invariably switched off๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Heyjude says:

My daughter tells me off for not answering my phone – she has been known to FB the OH and tell him to tell me that I need to switch it ON!

      1. jennypellett says:

And that’s my beef…my mobile should be for MY convenience, not everyone else’s!

  3. restlessjo says:

Fooled me! I thought it was going to be another magnificent seascape when I saw the clouds. ๐Ÿ™‚ Is that OH ahead of you?
Yes, I think we feel pretty much alike on this, Jude. I never argue with myself. (well, not often ๐Ÿ™‚ ) Have a happy weekend!

    1. Heyjude says:

Yup, that was the OH. Comes in useful for those solo shots. I was going to use another surfer with the lighthouse in the background, but I quite liked the idea of this one. And I don’t fall out with myself much either ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Lucid Gypsy says:

I believe that if we can’t enjoy our own company no one else will either!

    1. Heyjude says:

      That’s a valid point Gilly!

  5. beetleypete says:

That sounds like something I might have written myself. I also never wear a watch, carry a phone, or follow any social platforms other than for blogging. There is no point retiring away from the rat race, or the bustle of towns and cities, then seeking the same in the countryside. You have got it right, Jude, and your photo says it all.
    Best wishes, Pete. x

    1. Heyjude says:

We have a lot in common Pete, which is why we are such good friends, even if only in the virtual world ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Such a lovely post. And those pics were real beauty….

    1. Heyjude says:

      Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. @pandorica says:

Hey Jude, lovely photograph.. I enjoy long walks alone myself on beautiful roads like that..

    1. Heyjude says:

Thanks for the comment. I like walking alone because I can go at my speed and stop when I want to as I am always carrying a camera. My OH is good to walk with because he goes and does his own thing too and I don’t have to worry about him hanging around for me.

  8. I know what you mean, Jude. I too enjoy my solitude, although at this moment I can’t seem to find much of it. What a great picture!

    1. Heyjude says:

Nice to be busy for a change though Cathy, keeps the boredom away ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. That’s true, although it seems to be feast or famine in my life. Either I have nothing at all going on, or way too much! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Moon says:

This is so beautiful and appropriate for the theme!

    1. Heyjude says:

      Thanks Moon ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. nomadwrites says:

Jude, this is a stunning capture. Just love it. Have been going through spectacular pictures of solitude. This is one of my favorite ๐Ÿ™‚ Just love it.

    1. Heyjude says:

Thank you for the visit and leaving a comment. Much appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚
