At a time of year when most bird song is subdued we can rely on the familiar robin for a winter serenade. Males defend their territories in this way year round, making them one of our most noticeable and best loved garden visitors in the winter months.

Robins always add a nice splash of colour too.
Nice one, Jude.
Best wishes, Pete. x
There are a few that visit the garden, but we have one very aggressive wagtail who chases all other birds away! Except for the starlings…
Singing his heart out…
Don’t they always? π
Indeed!
Your robins are so cute π
For us, it’s the bright red cardinals that stand out in the bare shrubs. They drive poor Theo crazy π
Your red cardinals are gorgeous!
No argument there π
Much more colorful than Robins here! Beautiful capture of this fellow in the sunlight, Jude. Happy New Year!
Thanks Jane. He was beautifully lit up by the dying sun on this day – I had to creep up on him to avoid the branches and fortunately he didn’t move.
I love Robins, they have such bright cheerful song as well as being prettyS!
The Robins make the garden work so much more fun. π Such beautiful creatures. β€
They are the most friendly birds.
Robins are such precious little creatures. Nice capture. Jude.
