Comes from the days when the upper class gave ‘Christmas boxes’ to their servants to take home on their day off, usually the day after Christmas. It used to be normal to give tradesmen like postmen and milkmen a cash gift at Christmas too.
Peace and quiet now Jo. Had a lovely walk along the coast here on Boxing Day, big family lunch in Marazion on Tuesday and another lovely day out yesterday with my two other sons, d-i-l and youngest granddaughter who is a real sweetie-pie! (The one in the leaves). She is such a delight to be with. There will be photos posted later. Hope you managed OK. Not long before you fly off again 🙂
I have to try and make it at spring tide when you can get on to the beach and photo the engine house from below. Adrian is a master… Cornwall Photographic
Oh, that’s fab, that is.
Beautiful. You wouldn’t want to roll down those hills!
Now you can see what I mean about ‘ups and downs’ along this coast!!
Beautiful – that soft hazy view is food for the soul.
Beautiful!
Thank you.
What does it mean: “Boxing”?

Thank you for that revaeling post.
Moody! I hope Christmas was unmitigated pleasure. Now to launch into the lead up to another year.
I enjoyed the days out, but it is hard work doing shopping and cooking for 7 people instead of two!
Very effective, Jude. Nothing like a bit of contre-jour! (Rodney…)
Best wishes, Pete. x
Love it! Proof positive of a happy day 🙂 Sending hugs, Jude. Let me know how it goes?

Happy belated Boxing Day, Jude. I often like the atmosphere in pictures where you shoot into the sun. Good job! 🙂
Wonderful contre-jour, Jude! And that place takes me back 40 years….
