It has been a while since I posted a sunset from the garden. The sun is now much further west, but still sinks behind Trink Hill. One day I will go to the coast so I can capture it going down below the horizon, but until then:

The cloud often bubbles up over the sea and that’s when the best sunsets occur,

with the sky in flames.

    Lovely western sunsets, Jude.
It’s getting darker earlier here, and torrential rain today, the first in a while…
    Regards as always, Pete. x

Sigh… summer slowly slipping away, before we’ve even had one! Unless you count last week’s 3 days of heat.

      1. joannesisco says:

I wish I could send some of our heat your way. We are scorched and need rain!

Beautiful sunsets! I love the way the setting sun accentuates the cloud formations ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Heyjude says:

Swapsies! I have plenty of the wet stuff.

        2. joannesisco says:

I bet everything looks lush and green in your part of the world!!

        3. Heyjude says:

Oh, yes. And very fat snails…

  2. Lynn says:

    Beautiful Jude!

  3. Pit says:

Fantastic pictures of gorgeous sunsets! ๐Ÿ™‚ Quite dramatic.

    1. Heyjude says:

Some nights they are spectacular Pit, I only wish we didn’t get quite so much grey cloud! Hopefully autumn sunsets will be even better, they usually are.

      1. Pit says:

We usually have fairly clear skies here in the Texas Hill Country, at least in summer. So we usually don’t get those spectacular sunsets. Last week, though, we did have one [].

  4. I love the header, but all your skies are worth seeing. Such strong colors. Makes me homesick for the desert sunsets of Broken Hill.

    1. Heyjude says:

We seem to get an incredible sunset followed by a week of cloud. Grey cloud… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  5. Really magical sunset images, Jude. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Clouds definitely make for a better effect. We’ve been having marvellous winter sunrises, and they’ve been so amazing there was even a piece on the national news about them. It’s the type of clouds at the moment that are causing the beautiful skies. Of course, you have to be up early enough to see them. Lucky I’m an early riser, but it’s jolly cold standing out there at 6 am taking photos! I love your first sunset, with all those clouds pushing up.

    1. Heyjude says:

Yes, you definitely need clouds to reflect the light and colour. Maybe I will do sunrises in the winter when it is a bit later – at the moment 5:46 is a bit too early for me ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I’m up by then even now, in the winter. It’s when I write.

        1. Heyjude says:

Another early bird. I’m afraid I am the night owl ๐Ÿ™‚

        2. I am an early bird. I love the quiet of early morning and then hearing the birds greeting the day.

  7. jennypellett says:

Lovely. Turneresque, if that indeed is a word…

    1. Heyjude says:

      It can be. Now.

  8. Lucid Gypsy says:

We get the best sunsets down here, this one is gorgeous and your first photo is a real wow!

    1. Heyjude says:

I shall have to start using the tripod so that they are better quality, but often I just grab the camera and run outside! I used to get gorgeous sunsets from our flat in Haslemere in autumn, so I am hoping to get some of the same here. If the clouds allow of course…

  9. Oh wow! The first and last ones are my favourites.

    1. Heyjude says:

      Mine too ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. restlessjo says:

See! I knew I’d have missed one ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Channeling Judy Collins? I like the second one ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Heyjude says:

The clouds just bubble up some days out of nowhere and these were forming a square shape – most unusual. Too many dropping water at the moment for my liking. But then it is enforcing me to do some work in the house instead. I might even start wielding a paintbrush, but maybe I’ll wait until after the next invasion!

      1. restlessjo says:

When’s the next invasion due? Must be imminent? You know how in the drop down comments you only get part of the comment till you click on it? This cuts off at ‘square’ and I thought for a delighted moment you were going to say the clouds were doing a square dance. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Expectations too high ๐Ÿ™‚ Not much rain here. Mizzle, a bit.

        1. Heyjude says:

10 days time. Not sure the OH knows about it… he’s away visiting ‘Mother’ at the moment and I’m waiting for the glazier to arrive. He must be lost.
