Porthminster Beach:
On a cold and cloudy school day you can have the beach pretty much all to your self.
The little train which runs on the St Ives to St Erth branch line is probably one of the most scenic lines in the country as it follows the coastline and then the Hayle estuary and terminates above this beach.
With views north to the Towans (the three-mile stretch of coastal dunes which extends north-east from the estuary of the River Hayle to Gwithian beach ) and Carn Brea and the Four Lanes transmitter in the background.
I love train travel, plenty of time to gaze out of the windows and enjoy that gorgeous view
